Happy New Year 2012!!

I have also realized that I overlooked mentioning our thanks to Warren Kostelny for his contributions to our displays.
Warren was generous enough to bring in personal photos of the 1948 and 1949 Chicago Railroad Fair, and Jon has begun to think of a way to use them to tell the story of the fair next year.
Thanks again for the gift.
Just a short note for now, a few new photos on the Special Exhibit cars have been posted.
Progress is ongoing, as the folks near the completion of the interior painting.
The difference is great, and can already be seen in the comparison photos in the gallery.
and these are both with the same lighting!
The exit area is also making progress, as Ray continues his welding magic.
We have discovered that one of the stairways is badly rotted through and we have decided to simply plate it over and stabilize it.
The step involved is on the unused side, so it is a practical solution with no change in the public passageway.
Repair would require a major rebuild of the end of the car, as with the DLW coach and the CRIP coach before it, with nothing to gain.
