A Bit of Winter Update from the Hardy Barn 3 Crew
BySometimes it’s hard to know where to start telling a story. Our goal is to get caught up with the passenger car news and projects and stay that way. But at first it won’t be exactly chronological in order.
The most current news from the IRM Passenger Car Department is as follows:
Chicago & North Western 7700: new doors – major build new from scratch; see the photos in the cars’ gallery.
One Lackawanna coach with a baaaad vestibule got cut up and prepared to be fixed.
Bob Hunter struggles with the diaphragm material on the Dover Strait.
Phil Stepk has all the corridor lights in the Silver Ridge installed. Kitchen cabinets in the Birmingham all have new clear Plexiglass doors, so we can use them and stuff will not fly out. Phis is just starting on a re-do of the AC system in Birmingham. He says he learns something new every year and has a plan to make the air movement better, but basically he’s starting from scratch so it will take a few weeks.
The Galt House came home from Horicon and and plans call for getting it ready for the 2008 season.
The Bessemer & Lake Erie 25 has a couple of rotted windows being made new in the woodshop.
